Mahdi Bigdeli

Mahdi joined the PhD program in September 2010. Besides his education in Economics and Finance, he has held a versatile set of management consulting and project management roles in industries such as healthcare, investment and IT. His research interests include the application of dynamic programming in healthcare, financial and investment decision support and utilizing queuing theory in optimizing healthcare services. He is also interested in applications of game theory in optimal conflict resolution and making optimal investment decisions.

Mahdi is currently working on a paper to build a dynamic model for community care services by applying Markov Decision Processes and other optimization techniques. The output of the paper will be an optimal resource allocation within community care services considering multi-layer service possibilities and stochastic stage adoption by a patient in her/his care path.

Professional Activities

As a Senior Management Consultant with Vancouver Coastal Health, he has developed strategic decision making models, risk management modules in healthcare development, and an optimal policy making model for Community Care Services.
