- Post a Job
Follow the OSCARplus Guidelines or email your job posting to cip@mcmaster.ca. Our Associate, Recruitment Programs will arrange job posting details and coordinate on-campus interviews at your request.
- Conduct On-Campus Interviews
Our team will partner with you to facilitate a seamless on-campus interview process. CBCD has a number of dedicated interview rooms to facilitate on-campus interviewing. In order to ensure the best service to employer and that students have a reasonable amount of time to manage their academic and interview schedules, we request that all first round interviews are conducted on-campus. To reserve your interview date please contact our Associate, Recruitment Programs at 905.525.9140 ext. 27592.
- Rank and Match
Once interviews are complete, the employer ranks all candidates by number, based upon suitability for the position. Students then rank their preferred employer opportunities and a calculated match takes place.
- Offer of Employment
Once the matching process is confirmed, a formal letter of employment is prepared by the employer and sent to the student with a copy to CBCD for the student’s file. CBCD will then, in turn, provide a confirmation letter to the employer that can be used for tax credit purposes.
Eligible for a Tax Credit
In return for investing in the future of a DeGroote School of Business student, the Ontario government provides eligible Ontario-based employers with a tax credit of a rate of up to 25% of wage-related expenses (maximum $3000) for each four months of employment.
The co-operative education tax credit helps to create employment opportunities by providing employers operating unincorporated businesses with a refundable tax credit for hiring
post-secondary education students.
For more information, please refer to the Ontario Ministry of Finance website.
On the Job
To make this experience successful for you and the student, we ask that each employer:

skill-developing work experience - Participate in a work site visit with one of CBCD's Relationship Managers to discuss the student's progress
- Complete a final evaluation form and discuss the results of this evaluation with the student

Internship Program gives a head start

DeGroote’s Commerce Internship Program gives third year undergraduate Commerce students the opportunity to apply their knowledge through eight, 12 or 16 month paid work terms. For employers, the CIP offers a way to evaluate potential full-time employees. David Marks ’98 and Ruth Todd ’90 of KPMG Hamilton discuss their experiences recruiting interns from DeGroote.
Why does KPMG recruit at DeGroote?
Students from DeGroote are very capable in terms of their well-roundedness. They’re not so focused on one particular area. It’s about more than just technical accounting knowledge. We’ve had great success with all of the students we’ve hired at DeGroote.
And why interns?
Interns are very keen learners. They’re very willing to roll up their sleeves and try everything. DeGroote students don’t shy away from opportunity. Right now, we have a great need for people in general. We are in fierce competition with other accounting firms.
With the internship program, we enjoy the privilege of being able to interview great students and pick the best. Hopefully, their experience as interns is positive, and we can entice them to a position when they graduate.
What are some tips you would give to other employers who want to recruit?
I’m always surprised at how few companies recruit at the internship program. It’s a great opportunity to get great students early on in the process. And you get great insight into your company. There are lessons to be learned from their observations.
