Submitted by Karina Almeida for Student Experience - Academic

Enrollment in Spring/Summer courses begins on March 14. Permissions are not required if you meet the prerequisite(s).

A few important notes:

  • You are permitted to take a maximum of 12 units in the Spring/Summer term.
  • If you wish to overload, send an email to buscom@mcmaster.ca to request permission. You must have a minimum GPA of 7.0 in the prior academic year.
    • Overload requests will be reviewed beginning April 1 to allow all students an opportunity to enroll.
    • Enrolling in more than 12 units may trigger additional supplementary fees.
    • Business 1 students cannot overload.
  • There must be an open seat to enroll in a course. We cannot enroll students into a closed section of a course.

If you have any issues enrolling, email buscom@mcmaster.ca from your McMaster student account. Be sure to include:

  • Your full name
  • Your student number
  • The course code

How many courses can you take during the summer session ?

    1. Caitlin Costello says:

Hello Joshua. Students may take up to 12 units (4 courses) in the Spring/ Summer term. It’s typically recommended that students take up to 6 units (2 courses) in each session, however some may choose to take all 12 units in the Spring and zero units in the Summer (or vice-versa).

  2. Dayah says:

Are there additional costs of taking 9 units in the summer term?

    1. Caitlin Costello says:

      Hi Dayah,

Please email buscom@mcmaster.ca with your question and a member of our team will be able to help.

      Thank you,

      Caitlin
