Please note that effective 2024-2025, the Faculty of Engineering will admit a limited number of students each academic year to the Minor in Computer Science. Admission decisions are made on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering Admissions Committee. Please find information about the minor and its requirements on our website, as well as the academic calendar.
- The Minor is not open to students registered in any Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering program.
- To apply for admission into the minor, students must email their interest to the Associate Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Engineering at engadmin@mcmaster.ca before April 30 each year.
- Please note that we are extending this deadline this year to May 8, 2024.
- Students seeking the Minor in Computer Science must have completed (possibly in the summer session after sending the e-mail expressing interest) the two courses: COMPSCI 1DM3 and 1JC3, each with a grade of at least B.
- Please note that both classes are available to take in the Spring semester.
- Please register using Create My Timetable.
- The last day for enrollment and course changes for Spring semester is May 13, 2024.
- Students must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 7.0 to be considered for entry into the Minor.
