How to Apply to Graduate

As you approach the final stretch of your degree, please ensure you are on track to complete your program requirements and have applied to graduate in Mosaic when eligible.

Instructions for reviewing your Academic Advisement Report:

1. Confirm you are on track to graduate

• To be considered for graduation, you must:
  • Complete 120 units and all degree requirements.
  • Maintain a minimum 5.0 cumulative GPA, or 4.0 for Business Bachelor of Commerce.
  • Remember that a maximum of 48 units of Level I coursework may count toward your degree.
  • Request an overload through buscom@mcmaster.ca if you require 18 units in your final term to graduate.
• To review your requirements, go to:
  • Mosaic → Student Center → My Academics → View My Advisement Report
• Ensure requirements are Satisfied or will be satisfied after successful completion of your remaining courses. If anything appears incomplete, please connect with an Academic Advisor.

2. Apply to graduate

• Once eligible, apply through:
  • Mosaic → Student Centre → My Graduation Status → My Academics → Apply for Graduation
• Select your expected graduation term, submit your application, and confirm that your status shows Applied.
• Completing a Minor? Once the Minor/Certificate Application becomes available in March select the Minor/Certificate Applications tile in Mosaic, choose your minor, enter the applicable courses, and submit your application.

3. Letters of Permission

• If you completed coursework on a Letter of Permission (LOP), ensure your final transcript is submitted and processed by April 30 for June graduation consideration and September 30 for November graduation.

Please remember:

• Maximum 15 units of LOP coursework toward your degree.
• Maximum 6 transfer/LOP units toward a Minor.
• Maximum 18 units per term, including McMaster and LOP courses.
