Why DeGroote?
DeGroote felt like the natural choice for me because, for five years before beginning the MBA program, McMaster had already been my home. During that time, I came to understand what it truly means to be part of the McMaster community. The McMaster experience goes far beyond tests, quizzes, and presentations. It means being surrounded by a welcoming, supportive, and diverse community that encourages you to push beyond what you thought was possible. At McMaster, you are given the freedom to shape your own journey, become the kind of student and leader you aspire to be, and pursue goals that may once have felt out of reach. DeGroote’s co-op program made that decision even easier. It offers a unique opportunity to explore different roles and industries, apply classroom learning in real-world settings, and make a meaningful impact along the way. These experiences allow you to better understand where your interests, strengths, and long-term career goals align. Choosing DeGroote meant continuing my journey in a place that had already challenged me, supported me, and helped me grow. It gave me the opportunity to build on that foundation while discovering new possibilities and seeing just how much further I could go.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?
Push yourself beyond your comfort zone, because that is often where you discover strengths, interests, and parts of yourself that you never knew were there. An MBA gives you the opportunity to take part in experiences you may never have considered before, and those experiences can shape both who you are and where your career takes you. Whenever a new door opens, be willing to say yes. Whether it is a leadership opportunity, a new connection, or an unfamiliar challenge, each experience is a chance to grow, build confidence, and create a strong foundation for your future success.
