Why DeGroote?
DeGroote School of Business is located right outside Toronto, where several of the world’s leading companies have set up their offices. DeGroote is well known for its experiential learning methods, its robust network among professionals as well as the tremendous support shown by alumni. The education coupled with the experience of working on cases and other competitions on a real time basis makes the students well prepared to take on responsibilities in the corporate world.
Why an MBA?
An MBA is an additional degree that helps move out of the technical field of Electrical Engineering and into the management part of things. The MBA gives a great overall picture of all the departments that need to work in tandem in any industry. It shows us how to convert data into information and use it to make informed decisions. The MBA also helps us nurture our leadership skills, team building capabilities and other such personal development.
What surprised you about DeGroote?
1. The support and the connection showed by the faculty and staff with the students, even in a virtual year. The speed at which the team designed and executed the changes was quick and seamless.
2. The complete reimbursement of the 3-day hotel quarantine after landing in Canada was an extremely pleasant surprise. Providing an impressive 11 day accommodation also helped international students settle in well, something which most of the other colleges do not do.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?
Try to make the most of your time here by mixing with students who are from all over the world and learn about their cultures and backgrounds, as the rest of it you will be taught anyway.
What has been the highlight of your DeGroote experience so far?
1. Being chosen as a DeGroote Leader and as an MBA Ambassador
2. Attending case competitions against participants throughout Canada
Aside from being an MBA Student Ambassador, what other extra-curricular activities have you been involved with while at DeGroote?
