Professor Emeritus of Strategy and Governance from McMaster University (1981-2013), Dr. Bart has published over 190 strategy and governance related articles, cases and reviews. He is also the Founder of The Directors College of Canada where from its inception in 2003 to 2013, he served as its inaugural Principal and Lead Professor. Among his many qualifications, Dr. Bart is the world’s leading expert on organizational mission statements (the most widely used management tool in the world) and how companies can use them more effectively to become a “mission driven” organization. He has authored 8 books including the 10 year business best seller, “A Tale of Two Employees and the Person Who Wanted to Lead Them” as well as the widely acclaimed publication “20 Essential Questions Corporate Directors Should Ask About Strategy – 3rd Edition”. Dr. Bart is listed in Canadian Who’s Who. He has served on many boards and is the recipient of numerous governance awards including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to Canada. In 2024, Dr. Bart was named a "Top 50 Governance Professional" by the North American Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) as part of their "Directorship 100 Awards".
