Dr. Cansu Ekmekcioglu is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. Her research interests include human-computer interaction (HCI), data studies, and technology policy. Driven by an interdisciplinary approach grounded in sustainability and equity, she contributes to the study and design of data management and digital technologies across essential social service domains, including migration, settlement, humanitarian aid, and healthcare. Her work has entailed close collaboration with marginalized communities, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, corporations, and policymakers allowing her to translate her research insights into real-world impact. Cansu received her PhD in information science at University of Toronto.
