With its perfect location, reputation and community, DeGroote was an easy choice for me. Connecting with alumni, current students and staff who only had great things to say made me even more clear about my choice.
With an undergraduate degree in Life Science and a goal of working in Healthcare Management, I knew the next step to get me there was an MBA. After 4 years of front-line hospital experience, I wanted to change into the behind the scenes project work that helps hospitals continue to develop. Expanding my network and knowledge will no doubt help me in my career.
In my undergrad I only completed 1 group project in my 4 years, coming into my MBA majority of deliverables are in groups. This was quite the change for me, but I enjoy working with others and have had fantastic groups along the way. Group work is inevitable on your MBA journey, be sure to listen, be adaptable and have fun.
Learn from your peers, they have so much knowledge and experiences to share.
The Pitching-In for Charity Competition, held in first semester of first year, all students were allotted into 32 teams to compete in a live case competition. Each team was assigned a local charity to work with to help solve a business issue they were facing. This event helped bring real world situations into the classroom and helped students connect with their community.
I have solo backpacked in Europe!
