Why DeGroote?
Canada was always my destination of choice for an MBA, because if you’re going to invest in world-class education, you might as well do it in the world’s most polite and scenic country. My search for the right program led me to DeGroote, and in true MBA fashion, I ran the numbers, and Hamilton’s cost of living quietly did more for my NPV than any ranking ever could. Same degree, same network, a fraction of what my classmates in bigger cities were paying just to keep a roof over their heads. Turning that down would have been, frankly, financially irresponsible.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering doing their MBA at DeGroote?
Drop the idea that you need it all figured out before day one. DeGroote isn’t designed to confirm what you already know, it’s designed to expose what you don’t, and that’s exactly where the growth happens. The ones who get the most out of this program aren’t the ones with the most answers, but the ones willing to look a little foolish in a case discussion in exchange for actually learning something. Take the group project chaos in stride, trust that the discomfort is doing its job, and two years from now you won’t recognize the person who walked in. That’s the whole point.
