Biography

Hongjin Zhu Research interests: Interorganizational relationships; Corporate governance. Dr. Hongjin Zhu is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management in the DeGroote School of Business. She obtained her B.A. in Economics from the Peking University in China and her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the National University of Singapore. Her research investigates how formal and informal interorganizational relationships—such as buyer-supplier relationships, marriage ties, and political connections—affect organizational strategies and outcomes in emerging economies, particularly in the context of business group networks. She also endeavors to understand the interface between corporate governance mechanisms and institutional contexts. Dr. Zhu’s works have appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, American Journal of Sociology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, and other referred journals. She has served as an editorial board member for Journal of International Business Studies from 2012-2013 and Management and Organization Review from 2013-2018.
