Soul Searching Among the Stars - Planetarium Show and Reflection | Sept 9

September 3, 2025

Contributed by: Kajanan Dayaparan

Did you know that McMaster has its very own planetarium? Join us for a special evening of wonder and reflection under the stars, hosted by Dr. Robert Cockcroft, Professor of Physics & Astronomy, Director of the McMaster W.J. McCallion Planetarium, and Open Circle Alumnus.

On Tuesday, September 9, from 4:30–5:30pm, you’ll be invited to gaze at distant planets and galaxies, reflect on our place in the cosmos, and discover how science and spirituality can come together in meaningful ways. Following the show, you’re welcome to join an optional outdoor social from 5:30–6:00pm to connect with others.

This event also offers a chance to learn about Open Circle, a student community that creates safe, respectful, and welcoming spaces to explore personal growth, spirituality, mental health, and leadership. You’ll hear participants’ experiences and have the opportunity to try a sample of Open Circle’s mindfulness circle activities, including calming meditation and guided group reflection.

Open Circle is about more than discussion—it’s about building community. Students are invited to join Reflection Circles and Courses, engage in mindfulness, and volunteer in Hamilton alongside peers who share a commitment to growth and compassion.

Spaces are limited, so register soon at: opencircle.mcmaster.ca/events

Come be inspired by the beauty of the universe, reflect on life’s big questions, and connect with others who are also seeking meaning.
