Dear Students,
The DeGroote School of Business Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee (DSB EDI-AC) is a collaborative body of students, staff and faculty dedicated to advancing inclusive excellence across the School. As part of DeGroote’s broader strategy to enhance its inclusive, collaborative and interprofessional environment, the Committee plays a key role in fostering a diverse and welcoming community that supports and advances business education and research.
Launched in 2023, the Committee has spent the past year assessing the needs of the DeGroote community and gathering feedback from its members. Based on these insights, we are making changes to the Committee’s composition and structure to ensure it remains responsive and representative. To better support members’ availability and engagement, we will hold separate monthly meetings for faculty, staff, and students, along with one Committee meeting with a representative from each group per academic term. Students will only meet between September and April.
We are also expanding the number of participants—we would like to have 2-3 undergraduate and 2-3 graduate students, with good representation from main campus and RJC. If you are interested in joining the DSB EDI-AC, please submit a brief expression of interest (under 250 words) by Oct 29 to reimersd@mcmaster.ca. All submissions will receive a response.
A note on membership: We encourage individuals from all backgrounds and lived experiences to participate. EDI work often falls disproportionately to those who face the greatest barriers, which can reinforce inequities. Achieving meaningful progress requires shared responsibility—everyone has a role to play. We invite you to join us in this important work.
