Important Information for Graduating Students

November 18, 2025

Your Academic Advisors have reviewed your student record and have updated your status in Mosaic to “Eligible to Graduate”.

Next steps:

  1. It is important that you DO NOT apply to graduate as this could remove you from the “eligible” list!
  2. Final grades are normally approved and posted to Mosaic by mid-January. Once posted, we will conduct a final academic review to identify students that have met all degree requirements.
  3. We will send paperwork to the School of Graduate Studies along with a request that they updated your status to “Cleared to Graduate”. Don’t worry if your status shows as “Pending” or “Needs to complete pending work”. This is a temporary status used by SGS indicating that they have received our paperwork and they need to do the final academic review to add the ‘Cleared’ status.
  4. Shortly after your status is updated, you will see the Graduation Tile on your Mosaic home screen. This is where you will confirm the name for your degree, indicate if you are attending the ceremony, order guest tickets etc.
  5. It is important that your student account be paid in full as transcripts, letters and degrees will be withheld if there is an outstanding balance.

Note the above process takes several weeks following final grade submission. Please reach out if your status is not updated by early March. *If you require a letter of completion for Post Degree Work Permit applications, please send an email to askmba@mcmaster.ca, including your student number, to request a letter after all of your grades are posted to Mosaic.

McMaster’s Registrars Office coordinates up to 10 convocation ceremonies for thousands of graduates each June. Information about the ceremony can be found on their website. Continue to check this web site and your McMaster email regularly for updates. The RO office is also responsible for all transcripts, degree distribution, guest tickets etc. and further information can be found on their site.
