The SE Team is pleased to offer the Mental Health First Aid Standard Certificate Course, presented by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
We are offering a limited number of spots for MBA students. Before registering, please note that students will not be granted leave from academic commitments to attend.
This training is a result of ongoing consultations between the MBA Programs team and case management. The feedback was that this focused training would best support us in on-the-spot interactions with students who may or may not be in distress. We will be better able to answer the triage questions when making a referral.
Participants that complete the pre-work and attend the full day session will receive a certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
Details:
- Tuesday, November 28
- Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Location: Ron Joyce Centre
Register on OSCARplus.
The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 15 at 11:59 p.m.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved. The MHFA Canada program aims to improve mental health literacy and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague.
