Sun Life Dean Connor Inclusion Scholarships for Black or Indigenous Students | Oct 29

Through DCIS, students will receive financial support and a paid internship to build their experience and ease their transition into full-time work after graduation.

We have up to 20 scholarships available, each of them includes:

  • A $5K scholarship, available for one academic year
  • 4-month paid internship during Summer 2026
  • 1-1 professional mentorship – students are paired with a leader within Sun Life to support with career development, coaching, and building their network
  • Access to dynamic student programming – including hands-on workshops in financial literary, resume & interview prep, leadership workshop plus other enriching sessions and a dedicated professional development day in Toronto, offered exclusively to scholarship recipients and designed to empower career readiness and growth.

What internships are available?

In the past, students have completed internships in various areas of the business including (but not limited to) Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Actuarial Science, Audit, Project Management, Software Development, IT, Data Analytics, and more!

Successful applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Self-identify as part of Black or Indigenous communities
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be currently enrolled full-time in the second, third, or fourth year of an undergraduate degree or diploma program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution and returning to studies full-time in September 2026.
  • Available to complete a 4-month internship in Summer 2026
