Here is what you need to know about the MSAF process. Keep reading…. this info is very important!
MSAF Self-Report:
- Submitted by students in Mosaic. Cannot be submitted in advance.
- Used for missed work valued at less than 25% per course, due to medical/ select personal absences lasting 3 days or less.
- May only be used once per term.
- Must be submitted within 24 hours of your return to class. Failure to do so may result in your MSAF being denied.
- Students must immediately follow up with their instructor(s) after submitting the request.
MSAF Administrative Report (MSAF-AR):
- Submitted to the Student Experience, Commerce Office electronically using this form.
- For absences lasting 4 days up to 2 weeks.
- Used if an MSAF Self-Report has already been used that term.
- For missed work valued at 25-35% per course.
- Students that have a known absence can submit the MSAF-AR Form in advance of the missed coursework, however, students must complete the form no later than 24 hours after returning to class.
- Supporting documentation may be requested when an MSAF-AR is being reviewed.
- Only two MSAF-ARs can be used per term.
If you have a midterm at the same time as your class, two midterms at the same time, or are a Varsity student attending an athletics event, you must submit the Mid-Term Test Conflicts Form no later than 10 business days before the exam date. Only forms that are submitted to the SE office within the deadline will be considered for an alternate exam date.
Remember: An approved MSAF does not equal an alternate date for the missed midterm or coursework. You still need to reach out to your professor to see how the missed marks will be made up.
