Dr. Yan Wang

Biography

Dr. Yan Wang received her M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Finance from McGill University. Her research interests lie in price fragility, institutional investment, and empirical corporate finance. Her works have been published in the top finance and accounting journals, including Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Her papers won several international awards, including the Best Paper Award on ETFs in Asset Management at the NFA, the Best Paper Award on Investments in the FMA Asia Pacific Conference, and the SAC Capital Award for Outstanding Research. Beyond the scholarly research, her papers have received media coverage multiple times, including a cover article in The Economist and coverage on the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance. She receives both an SSHRC Insight Grant and an SSHRC Insight Development Grant as a solo Principal Investigator in support of her research projects. Dr. Yan Wang has served as an Insight Grant adjudication committee member for SSHRC from 2021 – 2023. She also serves as an active ad-hoc referee for several journals, including Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Review of Industrial Organization, British Accounting Review and Journal of International Money and Finance.
