An MBA that puts experience first

Most MBA programs teach business. The DeGroote MBA builds in experiential learning opportunities. 

From your very first term, you’ll move between the classroom and the real world, working with industry partners, coaching each other through real business challenges and building the kind of resilience that can’t be learned from a textbook. Here’s what makes the DeGroote experience unique.

Make real-world impact during your degree 

Once per semester in your first year, you’ll participate in GRIT Week, an immersive, week-long experience that challenges you to take what you’ve learned and apply it in practical, high-pressure scenarios developed with our faculty and employer partners. It’s where theory meets reality, and where you find out exactly what you’re made of. 

Our Full-Time MBA students will also get the opportunity to participate in an industry consulting project. This eight-month consulting project places you inside an authentic business challenge alongside industry leaders from local organizations. You’ll develop real solutions, sharpen your critical thinking and practise the kind of collaborative work that defines effective business leadership.

Programs built around your goals 

No two leadership pathways look the same. DeGroote offers MBA programs designed to meet you where you are and take you where you want to go. 

Full-Time MBA: In 20 months, you’ll gain the hands-on experience and skills to advance your career, pivot to a new industry or launch your own venture. 

Full-Time MBA with Co-op: If you’re looking for more work experience, this program combines classroom learning with three paid work terms where you’ll explore industries and build your network before graduating with real experience. 

Accelerated MBA: This program is designed for early-career business graduates looking to fast-track their careers. Starting in year two of the program, you’ll be able to jump right into a specialization. 

Blended Learning Part-Time MBA: Blending online learning with weekend residencies in Burlington, this program allows you to advance your career without pausing it. 

Executive MBA in Digital Transformation: Designed for experienced management professionals poised to become future disruptors, you’ll gain the tools and knowledge to lead in the digital economy.

Your career, supported every step of the way 

An MBA is an investment, and our Career and Professional Development (CPD) team is committed to making sure you have the skills and network to success after graduation. The MBA Class of 2025 had an average of 3 years of work experience prior to the program. Within six months of graduation ninety-three per cent had secured employment, with an average post-graduation salary of $84,265. 

Our CPD team offers personalized career coaching, industry-specific guidance, resume reviews, mock interview nights and direct connections to hiring managers and recruiters across Canada. Our alumni have gone on to work at organizations like KPMG, RBC, Deloitte, Sun Life, CIBC, Hamilton Health Sciences and Google.

There’s no single profile for a DeGroote MBA student 

One of the most common misconceptions about applying to an MBA is that there’s a mould you need to fit. Ryan Shoot, Manager, MBA Student Recruitment and Admissions at DeGroote, pushes back on that directly. 

“Your application’s strength comes from the unique perspective you bring and the intersection of your previous academic, professional and personal experiences,” says Shoot. 

The numbers back that up. For the incoming Fall 2026 class, approximately 24 per cent of students came from a business academic background, meaning three in four arrived without a prior business degree. That breadth of experience is intentional. 

“This diversity of experience and thought is what makes the classroom at the DeGroote School of Business so dynamic and exciting,” Shoot says.
