IB, AP or GCE Assessment | Sept 11

July 18, 2025

Contributed by: Ericka Wagner

Thinking that your IB, AP, or GCE credits might give you a head start at DeGroote? The Student Services team has created a small guide to help you understand how transfer credits work, who is eligible, and what steps you need to take to be considered.

Here’s What You Need To Know:

The Faculty of Business does not grant transfer credit for Math or Business-related IB, AP or GCE courses. Business 1 students are encouraged to enroll in all required courses while they await a transfer credit assessment.

Eligibility:

  • You must be registered in Business 1. Integrated Business and Humanities (IBH) students are not eligible for transfer credit.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) – a minimum score of 5 in Higher Level (HL) courses. Standard Level (SL) courses are not considered for transfer credit.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) – a minimum score of 4 in acceptable courses.
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) – applicants with a minimum grade of C in Advanced Level subjects may be eligible for transfer credit, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Interested in a formal assessment? Complete this form and submit your score sheet by September 11.

If you are eligible for transfer credit, you will be emailed by a member of the Student Services – Academic Team.
