Join Open Circle and Nature@Mac for Restoring Nature: Embracing Cycles and Growth and help care for our local environment by removing invasive species and cleaning up the Cootes Paradise area near campus. As we work together, we’ll take time to reflect on the natural cycles around us and consider what new beginnings lie ahead in our own lives. This event combines hands-on restoration with mindfulness and community reflection in the heart of nature.

Important details:

  • Date and time: Wednesday, November 12, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is followed by an optional social from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Clothing: Please dress for the weather and wear clothing suitable for outdoor work. We recommend long pants, long socks (tucked in to avoid ticks), and durable closed-toe shoes. Bring a water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen or hat as needed. Nature@Mac will provide gardening gloves and all necessary equipment, but you’re welcome to bring your own.
  • Location: Meet at Miller’s Grove (north of Les Prince Hall near the RBG trail entrance and Altitude climbing wall). From there, we’ll walk together to the restoration site. Visit here for directions and accessibility details.
  • Accessibility Note: The event involves light physical activity such as walking, digging, and pulling on uneven terrain, but tasks can be modified to suit participants’ abilities.
  • This event is part of Open Circle, a welcoming student community that provides safe and respectful spaces for reflection, personal growth, spirituality, mental health, and leadership. Click here to register.
