David Lazzarato is a distinguished business leader with a career spanning many industries. A proud graduate of the DeGroote School of Business (BCom ‘79) and a CFA Charterholder, David has held senior executive roles at leading companies including BCE, Bell Mobility, AT&T Canada, and Alliance Atlantis Communications.
He played a key role in major corporate transformations and successful transactions throughout his career. His leadership was critical in one of Canada’s fastest and most successful corporate restructurings during his time with AT&T Canada, and he helped lead Alliance Atlantis to a successful sale ahead of the 2008 financial crisis.
Since his retirement from executive roles, Dave has served as a board director for several prominent companies, including Flutter Entertainment, Yellow Pages, Thunderbird Entertainment and Canopy Growth, where he currently serves as board chair. He has also dedicated significant time to institutional governance, with leadership roles at Trillium Health Partners Foundation in Mississauga, McMaster University’s Board of Governors, Hamilton Health Sciences and the Council of Chairs of Ontario Universities.
An honorary doctorate recipient from McMaster in 2017, Dave’s ongoing commitment to his alma mater underscores his dedication to advancing education and community. His legacy of impact and achievements make him a deserving recipient of the 2025 Wayne C. Fox Distinguished Alumni Award.
