Why did you choose to pursue your EMBA in Digital Transformation at DeGroote?
After spending many years as a technology leader in the energy industry, I wanted to further my skills by raising my leadership view above the immediate technology solutions to how digital strategies align with business goals, improve processes, and enable new horizons for the organization. DeGroote’s Digital Transformation EMBA program was a unique offering at the time that focused on both technology advancement and the foundational MBA curriculums. In addition, the quarterly dedicated in person (pre-COVID) classroom time allowed me to continue with my normal job and still fully participate in the MBA program with my classmates.
Looking back at your experience, what were the top 3 highlights of the program from your perspective?
First highlight is the pleasure of meeting my fellow classmates who came from a wide range of industries including financial management, medicine, retail, telecom, pharmaceutical and legal. This collage of industry experiences enriched classroom discussions and expanded my view of the business world. Clearly, it also broadened my professional network and lifetime friendships.
Second is the dedication and expertise of the DeGroote faculty staff. Program instructors included both seasoned academic professors and industry leaders. This provided a balance view on theory and practical application.
Third is the completeness of the program subject matters that not only focused on business management and technology, it also covered important topics like leadership development and business communication.
How has the DeGroote EMBA prepared you as leader?
The program has enhanced my strategic thinking skills with an emphasis on critical thinking and decision-making. It also bridged my technical background with business development/leadership competencies which are skills I continue to develop and leverage daily.
As a graduate of the program, how has the DeGroote EMBA impacted your career?
I am a more confident technology and business leader because of the program, with expanded network of colleagues whom I can learn from and exchange ideas. The program highlighted the importance of continuous learning and prepared me for future leadership endeavors in strategy development and specifically business transformation programs.
