Biography

Research Interests: Corporate finance; Optimal corporate policies; Resource Economics. Dr. Sudipto Sarkar is a Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the DeGroote School of Business. His areas of interest include corporate finance and real options. For example, he has recently published research on the optimal design of public-private partnerships (P3) concession contracts, investment in electric vehicles under dual-credit policy, and how the learning curve commonly observed in high-tech and precision industries impacts a company’s financing and investment timing decisions. He is currently carrying out an SSHRC-funded study that examines the influence of regional economic distress and climate beliefs and attitudes on firms’ pollution levels. His work often integrates theoretical modeling with practical implications for firms operating in dynamic and uncertain environments, contributing to both academic literature and financial policy discussions.
