DeGroote Alumni Inducted Into 2024 McMaster Alumni Gallery

Nick Javor and Naveet Nanwa are smiling happily in a friendly setting.

Champion, leader, and mentor. These are just a few words that describe inductees to the Alumni Gallery. Over the past 40 years the McMaster Alumni Gallery has recognized individuals for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to society.

In 2024, two DeGroote alumni join the over 450 McMaster alumni named to the Gallery. Congratulations to Nick Javor and Naveet Nanwa!

Nick Javor, BEng ’80, MBA ’81 | 2024 Alumni Gallery

Nick Javor has been a senior business leader in the branding and franchise industries for over 30 years, with Canada’s leading retail brands including Tim Hortons, Mr. Lube and Esso. Currently Nick is the principal of Oskee1Consulting. In partnership with Indigenous leader and hockey icon Ted Nolan, Oskee1 delivers a full turn-key franchise economic development program to Indigenous owner/operators on traditional lands. He has led the development of over 20 Tim Hortons with First Nations. He is now assisting Starbucks and Yum Brands. Nick is dedicated to helping corporate Canada understand the potential of the Aboriginal marketplace – an important step towards reconciliation and self-determination. He has served as a Director of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.

Naveet Nanwa, BCom ’10, MBA ’14 | 2024 Arch Award

Nav Nanwa is currently the host of Windsor Morning with CBC Radio One Windsor. He has been with the CBC for close to two years. Before coming to CBC Windsor, Nanwa most recently worked with CBC Toronto’s Brampton Backpack Bureau as a Reporter/Editor where he produced stories about the city — shining a light on its BIPOC population under 40. Previous to this he was a Business Columnist and Associate Producer for CBC Radio Toronto’s afternoon show Here and Now. Prior to joining CBC, Nav worked in local media in Ontario for eight years as a Radio Host and Producer for NewsTalk SAUGA 960 AM, and a Television Host for Rogers TV Peel. He also has a brand marketing background with experience putting together campaigns for some of the biggest brands in Canada. Nav worked on No Frills hauler campaign, launched a comic book franchise and music album. He even took a gigantic shopping cart across the country in a national tour to connect to haulers from coast to coast.
