Biography

Shawn is the Founder and Managing Director of?Raising The Village, an organization serving last-mile communities in in sub-Saharan Africa by supporting community designed livelihoods initiatives which graduate communities into the ‘base of the economic pyramid’.

Serving as a catalyst for public and civic action, village partnerships leverage existing household resources and a small one-time investment to increase household incomes, and facilitate broad civic engagement.

Raising The Village partners with over 65,000 new beneficiaries each year, seeing families break out of extreme poverty within 24 months.?Shawn is passionate about creating the opportunities and space for families marginalized by time and place, and having the ability achieve their goals.

Prior to founding Raising The Village, Shawn held the role as a management consultant with Accenture advising clients in financial, logistics and public sectors. Shawn holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (’05) from the DeGroote School of Business and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.?He is the inaugural recipient of the 2025 DeGroote Alumni Social Impact Award.
