Celebrating the Class of 2023

On June 16, DeGroote graduates celebrated their well-earned accomplishments during the Spring 2023 convocation ceremony. This momentous occasion exhibited the persistence, drive, and dedication to academic success demonstrated by the graduating class. In addition to the degrees presented to the graduates, McMaster alum Paul Douglas (BCom ‘76, MBA ‘78) was awarded an honourary degree for his unwavering dedication to higher education and continuous participation within the DeGroote community.

Closing the ceremony, the respective valedictorians, Laura Coelho (BCom ‘23) and Shweta Sapara (MBA ‘23), shared words of gratitude and looked back at their time at DeGroote with fond memories as they sent their peers off to prepare for their next chapters in life. Faculty members, family, and friends celebrated alongside the graduates, demonstrating how proud they are of the class of 2023.

“Think back to all the hard work that you’ve accomplished in the past years, all the midterms, group work, and exams; for all that you’ve done, we’re so proud of you,” said Susan McCracken, associate dean, academic.
