DeGroote celebrates faculty excellence awards

The DeGroote School of Business is happy to announce this spring’s faculty excellence awards, which were announced at the school’s annual Spring Celebration event on May 27, 2026.
Yoontae Jeon, associate professor of Finance and Business Economics, is the recipient of the 2026 Research Excellence Award for his scholarly achievement and contributions to the field of financial derivatives.
The Research Excellence Award is presented to a member of the DeGroote School of Business faculty who, over the past five years, has consistently demonstrated excellence in research endeavors. Nominees noted that Jeon has an extensive research output record, has secured considerable research funding and significantly contributed to PhD training at DeGroote.
Jenna Evans, associate professor and Area Chair, Health Policy and Management, is the 2026 recipient of the Dean C. Mountain Research to Practice Excellence Award for the wide-ranging impact of her research program.
The Dean C. Mountain Research to Practice Excellence Award is presented to a member of the DeGroote School of Business who, over the past five years, has successfully bridged research to professional and/or instructional practice. Nominees noted Evans’ consistency in engaging directly with the realities faced by health system leaders and organizations through her research on performance management in more than 40 hospitals.
Ashish Pujari, professor of Marketing, is the recipient of the 2026 Community Engaged Scholarship Award for his long-standing research project focused on addressing waste management challenges in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This award celebrates local or regional (southwestern Ontario) community-based research partnerships that produce and mobilize knowledge in ways that are mutually beneficial.
Marvin Ryder, associate professor of Marketing, is this year’s recipient of the Community Engaged Teaching and/or Practice Award for his remarkable ability to bridge academic expertise with civic life.
This award recognizes faculty who demonstrate exemplary contributions to joint local or regional (southwestern Ontario) community engagement initiatives, including projects that integrate with local communities. Nominees recognized Ryder’s two decades of community-connected teaching and community engagement through media engagement, community talks and government testimony.
